Chinook Salmon Regulations in Campbell River, B.C.
As of July 12, we got word from DFO about Chinook salmon retention for area 13, which is the closest fishing area to Campbell River. From July 15 to August 31, 2024, each angler can keep:
- One (1) Chinook salmon per person per day
- 62 cm minimum size
- 80 cm maximum size (marked or unmarked, i.e. hatchery or wild)
Then, from September 1 to December 31, 2024, the daily limit increases to two (2) Chinook per day per person, with no maximum size limit.
We’re still able to keep two hatchery coho per person per day. Provided that you stay within the individual species limits, you can keep up up to four (4) salmon per day — e.g., one Chinook, two Coho, and a Pink.
If you fish more than one day, your possession limit is twice the daily limit.
