Another Great Year!
2025 was again a very busy year, filled with old and new friends. The salmon fishing was excellent, and the marine wildlife was abundant — we had some truly amazing days on the water. My thanks to everyone who chose to come fishing with me. Already looking forward to next year.
Chinook Salmon Fishing
As usual, chinook fishing around Campbell River this summer was great. They weren’t always where you expected them to be, but we found them.
Sockeye Salmon Opening
For the first time in I think 11 years, we got a recreational sockeye salmon opening in August. It was a short window, but the people who were lucky enough to have booked in that window were rewarded. Lots of fun fishing for sockeye with multiple rods down.
Coho in September
From September 1 to 31, 2025, DFO opened retention to one wild and one hatchery marked coho salmon. Prior to that, retention was limited to one hatchery coho. There were plenty of coho around this year, and having the ability to take home an extra one was nice. We also had some decent chum salmon fishing in late September and October.
2025 Traveller’s Choice Award
Once again, Outsider Charters was a recipient of an annual Tripadvisor Traveller’s Choice Award, given to those businesses that are in the top 10% of listings around the world on Tripadvisor.
These awards are based on reviews, so my thanks to all of my guests who took the time to post reviews online. They make a big difference. Most importantly, reviews give people looking for a fishing charter the ability to get a real feel for who they’re going to spend a day with. It’s not an easy decision. But having a bunch of reviews out there lets a potential customer make the best decision possible.

Booking For Next Year
I came out of the season with quite a few days already booked for next year. If you’re thinking about coming to Campbell River to go salmon fishing in 2026, I’d encourage you to get in touch as soon as you know when you’ll be here. That way you’ll have the best selection of days.
